Caped Crusader Mitt Romney Fights to Save America from Obama the Empty Suit
Mitt Romney needed to hit a home run with his nomination speech at the Republican National Convention. Put another way, Romney needed to prove he was Batman to Ryan’s Robin and not the other way around, as a Tampa Bay Times editorial cartoon featured him August 30th. I think he did that, if you evaluate him for the content and substance of his speech rather than judging him on pageant standards of congeniality the mainstream media use to praise and prop up a failing President Obama.
Romney will never be Obama, filling a room with flowery words, singing an Al Green tune erstwhile being void of leadership and “backbone.” But in his speech Thursday night to accept his party’s nomination, Romney proved to America his the “caped crusader” to lead the country out of its economic malaise to a “better future.” With a vigor and determination we haven’t seen before, Romney stood up against Obama’s failure of the past three and half years and told the American people, he will not back down from this fight to save our country.
One of the most illustrative moments of Romney’s speech, which defined the choice voters face in the two candidates, was when Romney asked if Americans were better off than they were four years ago.
“Hope and Change had a powerful appeal. But tonight I’d ask a simple question: If you felt that excitement when you voted for Barack Obama, shouldn’t you feel that way now that he’s President Obama? You know there’s something wrong with the kind of job he’s done as president when the best feeling you had was the day you voted for him!”
Throughout his speech, the Tampa Bay Forum erupted in thunderous applause and standing ovations. Romney not only laid out how bad the country has fared under Obama but also painted a portrait of ego driven President with no plan for America but saving his job. In response to media criticism Romney needs to “fill in the blanks” on his plan to get America working again, Romney announced if elected president he would create 12 million jobs. He said the jobs would be created through a five step plan: making America energy independent by 2020, strengthening education through school choice, forging new trade agreements, cutting our deficit and reducing taxes on businesses by repealing Obamacare.
While “President Obama promised to begin to slow the rise of the oceans and heal the planet,” said Romney. “MY promise…is to help you and your family. I will begin my presidency with a jobs tour. President Obama began with an apology tour.”
Neutering Obama’s attacks on his success as a businessman, Romney boldly heralded his work accomplishments at Bain Capital such as starting companies like Staples, Bright Horizons and The Sports Authority. Again Romney made Obama look like a president ill-prepared to lead, with virtually “no experience working in business, whose policies are bringing the country down rather than lifting them up.
“These are American success stories. And yet the centerpiece of the President’s entire re-election campaign is attacking success. Is it any wonder that someone who attacks success has led to the worst economic recovery since the Great Depression?”
Building upon Condoleezza Rice’s masterful Wednesday night speech condemning Obama’s foreign policy feebleness, Romney made the case to the American people President Obama hasn’t stood up for freedom abroad. From allowing Iran to become a nuclear threat to “throwing Israel under the bus” and giving Russia’s President Putin all the flexibility he desires, Romney declared Obama hasn’t made America a safer place by abdicating leadership in the world and talking with dictators.
What America saw from the Republican presidential nominee Thursday night was Romney ready to take on Obama’s failed record. A candidate eager to do something about America’s problems, finally take the fight to Obama and beat back his campaign of dishonesty!
In putting an empty chair on the Tampa stage to represent Obama during his remarks, actor Clint Eastwood reduced Obama the reality of his record, there’s nothing there. “When somebody does not do the job, you gotta let em go,” said Clint. This election is about a choice in stark contrasts: leadership versus promises, responsibility versus blame. Romney stood in Tampa as a man with the answers, willing to lead, making Obama look like an empty suit, ready for his close up.
After reading through many pages on this site I must say….what a colossal waste of time.
Essentially it’s:
“Barack Obama is a comic book style super villain. There is no grey area. I parrot party lines and do not deviate from them at all….so this is just the same thing you have read a million times. My gimmick is that I’m black and I’m hoping to parlay that into some air time on Fox News because I like to see myself on TV. Like most pundits I am the worst type of human being.”
The superhero metaphor that this article starts out with is really inappropriate, or, much more likely, reflects the immature mentality of the American electorate. Barack Obama was lofted to power by a cult of personality which fits an American Mussolini, Stalin or Mao. Why people are so wishful for a “superman” to come to the rescue is very disturbing for me. If you read the U. S. Constitutition, you’ll find that the President only has four jobs to fill. He signs or vetoes bills, he appoints people to be judges and other jobs (with the consent of the Senate), he is Commander in Chief during time of war (Congress alone is supposed to declare war and that hasn’t happened since 1941), and he gives a State of the Union address every year. All other powers of government rest with the Congress, the States, and the Supreme Court. But our country has been in a state of war or quasi-war for 71 years. And the Presidency has grown into an imperial position. Legally, the President has no powers over our economy. In practical terms, his influence over federal agencies, departments, and courts gives him the ability to meddle in the marketplace causing uncertainty and stoppage which results in recessions. In the book, The Forgotten Man, which was published a full year before our current crisis, Ms. Schlae tells of how President Hoover interferred with the economy and prevented a recovery. He was followed by Franklin Roosevelt who repeated the same mistakes and prolonged the crisis into a full blown Great Depression. We are repeating the mistakes of the past. We are looking for a superhero when we should be fixing this ourselves and rejecting the federal, State and local governments undue and often destructive influence. “I’m from the Government and I’m here to help” is the modern tolling of doom.
Good article. Any male today who is a “man” is a superhero. If you still use google, some say they quit and use bing, I don’t know. But if you google Nelson Hultberg September 1, 2012 you can pull up what he says about men and Eastwood on ‘The Daily Bell.’
Well said WalkerColt, but tell it to the youth. As a recent poll showed between the ages of 18-24, 65 percent will vote for Obama. Perhaps you will agree that Adults are smarter than idealistic children. Perhaps they need to learn through their mistakes. I’m hoping they don’t have to.
I am a Black moderate chick and I am so underwhelmed with your thoughts and platform. I am not a raging liberal and have many socially conservative views. I am currently watching you on CNN now and came to your site to see what’s you’re about. You sound very inauthentic, self-serving, and frankly unintelligent. Please leave the political punditry to others who can represent the political ideological spectrum more credibly.
Romney a Caped Crusader!!!! LMAO LMAO LMAO!!!!! Consertative Black Chick, I guess you believe working at McDonalds you can actually raise a family off minmum wage. I guess cutting funding to education will help people get into the middel class. I guess all the tax cuts to the wealthy will surely trickle down to every one. I am sure you are aware that these policies were tried in the previous 8 years and nearly drove the US into great Depression. You claim to be a very smart person, but please arm yourself with the facts. I am sure you love the RNC since it was devoided of FACTS!!!!!
Matthieu, you’ve called me out properly. I am an oldster. I guess it shows. But they will not allow me to tell it to the young. At the PTA meeting before my last two children graduated from high school, the Supervisor of the City School Board asked for people who had industrial experience to help teach math and science. After the meeting, I button-holed him and tried to volunteer. He told me I had to go back to college, get a teaching degree, and join the union. The man lied or is a complete moron (or a politician – I get the two confused). Why did he ask for volunteers if he had no intention of accepting them? Now I have two degrees in math and chemistry, and 40+ years of industrial job experience, but I’m not “good” enough to teach in any classroom in my city??? I’d curse but this is nice website and I don’t want to mess it up.
Another interesting article by Ms. Wright.
Anybody that can get the country out of the hands of this wanna-be-great man is a Caped Crusader.
You take freedom for granted, not realizing how hard it is to achieve. I don’t believe it; Americans wanting to be taken care of by the government. That’s what Obama stands for! His formula is simple; offer the electorate free stuff! That will lead to a totalitarian state. You can kiss liberty goodbye.
That is the dangerous path that Obama has America on and any Obama bashing that is occurring is not a waste of time, it’s worth it. Infact he’s not being bashed enough. I’ll continue to bark at him until he’s out of office. Survival of the free world depends on it.
CJ is a classic example of the type of people who fall for propoganda. They know only the distorted representations of the people they want to agree with and disregard everything else as opposition party lies.
Given how much damage Obama has done in his first term I would say anybody who beats him at the ballot box will be doing the country an enormous favor.
In fifth grade there was an election held for class president. Johnny Noble gave his speech and poured out ideas on how to make things better. Like going to the bathroom in pairs so the teacher would know that someone had to “go” and didn’t have to interrupt the lesson because the second student would bring the other one back. And how they could raise money for field trips by selling their crafts from art class. And how everyone should clean their own area so the teacher didn’t have to punish one person and make that person miss their bus. All good ideas. He finished and sat down. Then Cute Suzy stood up, crossed her arms and declared, “Everyone who votes for me will get free ice cream.” She sat down. The votes were taken and counted. Johnny only got one vote – his own. But nobody ever got any ice cream either. School still sucked. Nothing changed except that Cute Suzy bossed everyone around because she was class president.
This is our democracy.
Great article. Keep up the good work and ensure your message is heard!
@WalkerColt says:
I am not a Conservative, but I agree with much of what you’ve said. It’s refreshing to see an intellectual Conservative on this site. We don’t have to always agree, but make sure your points are grounded in facts, and I appreciate how you broke it down. Thanks for stating that it’s not just President Obama but decades of unconstitutional war involving the Middle East (the US business of war).
Thanks for pointing out the fallacy of this post starting with this caped Romney magical figure. How is that different from the Magical Negro concept of 2008? It’s not!
Cute Suzy and Johnny Noble? Why do I try on this site. The words you use are all talking points. There isn’t any authenticity here or any clear understanding of history or facts. Instead everything is twisted into talking point narratives, and in this case based on a fictional hero.
Sadly, I was hoping for intellectual debate, but this site is clearly red meat for partisan Conservatives that don’t realize Fox News is mainstream media.
MGV sounds like a hilarious example of uninformed zombies who can spout nothing but propoganda and think if other people see through it they are the ones quoting “talking points”.
MGV is not capable of refuting Ms Wright’s points so they settle for pretending she doesn’t use “facts”. Facts to people like MGV being ONLY those things that reinforce their own political prejudices.
MGV needs to learn what “facts” are. Maintaining that problems were caused by their claims of “unconstitutional wars and the U.S. business of war” is OPINION not fact.
“Why do I try?” What a pompous, condescending question to ask, especially the way MGV assumes THEY are intellectual and/or somehow fit to decide what the true deifinition of “intellectual” is anyway.
THE CONSERVATIVE BLACK CHICK IS AN ANGRY, SICK HOUSE NIGGER!..THE GRASS IS NOT GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE HOUSE SLAVE!…HAVE SOME COURAGE WOMAN!…YOU, AND PEOPLE LIKE M.STEELE,C.CHRISTY ARE FIGHTING AGAINST THE TYPE OF FORCES THAT MADE YOUR SUCCESS POSSIBLE!..”THAT’S RIGHT”! DON’T BE IN DENIAL!!!…YOU ARE A BLACK WOMAN WHO IS OR DREAMS OF BEING A CAREER WHITE COLLAR CRIMINAL, OR YOU ARE THE VICTIM OF SOME FORM OF CHILD ABUSE…THOSE SAME TEA BAGGIN RACIST THAT YOU FIGHT TO PROTECT HAVE MOST CERTAINLY BEEN ABUSED FROM THE DAY THEY COULD UNDERSTAND THERE PARENTS RANTING AND RAVING!
dear Conservative Black Chick,
You may be conservative, and that’s fine if you wish, but the Republicans don’t want you. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Ah! Imitation of Life.
How stupid can you n your organization be knowing that Mitt Romney don’t give a Dayum about u or Ur organization ,or the black community. How stupid can you be. Obama is trully the best candidate.,because he cares.

Dear Ms. Write,
You were awesome on CNN with Morgan, but there are no excuses for Romney’s business practices, which were criminal. Fortunately for Romney, our President is by far worse.
… thanks for having a voice that is needed.
Sincerely,
Joseph C. Carbone III
WOW…Mitt looked good but had no substance. Barrack had substance but looked out of sorts. If I was going to make a selection based on who “looked more the part”, then sure Mitt fits the bill. Yet, I still can’t stomach the man because of the numerous conflicting, backwards and outright contradictory positions, I mean really how does a 60 year old man change his position 80 billion times in a five year span?
